Painting more of the Wine Lifestyle

Reunion

Gouache on clayboard
$495
Gouache, opaque watercolor,s has certainly been a challenge. I am now painting on clayboard and will spray my painting so that it can be framed without glass. I am finding gouache to be half way between watercolors and oils. I think I will consider painting plein air with gouache as I travel to the wineries of Kelowna-easier to pack and take on a plane!

Canadian Wine and Art Vacation

Wine country! Vineyards, grapes, tastings, gorgeous surroundings and plein air painting!
Since  I have dedicating a year to painting wine and desserts I am amazed at how many opportunities have presented themselves.
Road trip!!This summer I will be on my way to the Okanagan Valley in British Columbia to tour the wineries with my artist buddy Valerie Rogers!
Valerie and I are looking for art friendly wineries, locations to paint, dynamic local galleries and accommodations that would support a painting holiday workshop.
We are finalizing our scheduled and looking at the various wine tours that will fit into our tight schedule.
So, I must read up on the wine industry in Western Canada. I'll let you know what I find!

Why wine art?

Welcome to my new blog!
For the last year I have been painting and photographing all things wine and food. It has been such an enjoyable pursuit that I am devoting another year to capturing the mystique of wine, the sparkle of a bottle, the texture of a ripe raspberry, and many more things to come!
When I first started working in my early 20's, I took a wine course with the Alberta Liquor Board. A group of us, on the tax payers dollar, travelled to Calgary and visited the Andres winery. We toured and tasted, and tasted. What a great experience! We saw all the equipment, learned the process and found that wine tasting is alot of fun as well as a very serious pursuit.
Since then, my tastes have changed and I have 'graduated' to red wines. My husband took a liking to making premium wine and experiencing different varietals. We have both enjoyed learning about the fascinating history of wine and plan to travel to as many major wine producing areas that we can.
As an artist, I am painting not only a transparent bottle, but the experiences people have when the wine is shared. The bottle may be gone, but the event or company that shared the wine is a favorite memory that can be relived through a painting!
My style is representational and still life or scenery lends itself very well to my painting bottles, cheese, fruits and glasses of ruby red wine.
I have found that many of my clients showcase my art in their main living areas as well as by their bar, wine cellar and entertaining rooms. I hope you will enjoy viewing then as much as I have enjoyed painting them for you!

For the past year I have been dedicating my paintings to food and art and I ahve found my passion.
